Mount Baker
as seen from Ten Mile Point in Victoria
The Pacific Northwest has drawn tourists for a century and a half and continues to do so for so many reasons: spectacular natural beauty, friendly inhabitants, intriguing cities and towns and a wonderful temperate climate.People who visit Victoria often also visit Seattle, Vancouver, Whistler, the San Juan Islands, Tofino and many other wonderful places. Most visit two or three of the above with two or three nights at each. Many of the inns listed below are known to us directly, some by their continual appearance in guidebooks we trust, and some by the recommendation of people who have stayed with us at our bed and breakfasts in Victoria: Andersen House-Victoria Downtown and Bay Breeze Manor by the Sea. We know that things change. If you believe someone listed should no longer be recommended please e-mail us We will be adding listings for other cities as time and information permit. Max Andersen |
| Barclay House. We have shared many guests with this place over the years. Luxurious two room suites in one of the few remaining heritage homes in the West End. In a city as spread out as Vancouver, this is the perfect location if you are interested in the restaurants and fabulous shopping of Robson Street and the sublime beauty of 1000 acre Stanley park which are both just a couple of blocks away. | ![]() |

Johnson Heritage House. Sandy and Ron Johnson cheerily welcome guests in this tastefully decorated1920 Craftsman home in the Kerrisdale district. The house is in a quiet upscale neighbourhood and is full of interesting things from the days when they sold antiques and collectibles. Nearby is Queen Elizabeth Park - an old quarry cum garden with a magnificent Henry Moore sculpture and a geodesic dome filled with tropical plants. Van Dusen Gardens are nearby too. |
| West End Guest House. Here is another Heritage house conveniently located in Vancouver's most concentrated neighbourhood. Close to great parks, restaurants, shopping and cultural amenities such ast the Vancouver Art Gallery, the main Public Library, cruise ship terminal. They have been honoured with high ratings in many of the travel guides we regard as most credible and have shared many guests with us over the years. | ![]() |

O'Canada House. Another beautifully restored historic home in the West End. Great shopping, wonderful restaurants, spectacular parks and beaches, live theatre, night clubs - lots of what makes Vancouver exciting are very close by. Also, this is where Canada's national anthem was written. We have shared many guests with these folks as well. |
| Penny Farthing Inn. Lyn Hainstock (and her hard working cats) run this cheerfully decorated Heritage home in the charming beach community of Kitsilano. I spent many years in this neighborhood and still feel a little nostalgic writing about it. Very reasonable rates considering its location. Nearby attractions: Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver Planetarium, Granville Island Market, University of British Columbia and the interesting shopping of 4th avenue. | ![]() |
